With the aim of advancing the Pipe Band standards in Singapore to a standard measured in worldwide terms, Northland invited, from within their ranks and those who had graduated, a select few outstanding players to form the Northland king's Pipers. Its purpose was to advance the level of Northland Pipe Band to an "International Graded" professional music education and exemplary orchestral experience and the highest quality professional music education and training. Its members all holds pipe music theory and practical examination credentials from the Australian Pipe College and many have undergone training with the former Grade One Pipe Band Champion - Melbourne Victorian Police Pipe Band in Melbourne last year.

The Northland King's Band has also made great strides in the past three years in transforming the way the school, the community and Singaporeans view and appreciates pipe music. It's reached the point in Singapore where you can't receive or usher GOH, significant events without someone or pipe band in kilts playing the pipe.

The Northland King's band in not just a competition and an "Internationally Graded" professional band but will serve as a ceremonial asset for the community and nation. The band is well sought after and has performed for the President, Prime Minister, Senior and Minister Mentors and other dignitaries including the Duke of Edinburgh since its inception. It also performs for corporate events. Recent events include the Forbes CEO dinner, the world Cyber Games 2005, Grand Opening and World Juniors Hockey Game in Singapore. There were also some appearances in the National Geographic and History Channel Documentary shows (Singapore: The Intelligent Island") of the pipe band National Day Parade.

Other lime lights over the last few years include performing for oversea audiences which include Malaysia(2007), Indonesia (2007- Jakarta highland Gathering), Australia (Melbourne Ladies Presbyterian and Scott's College) Untied States and South Africa on Christmas Day (Dec 2008 Daystar TV network) which was also telecast-ed to some 20,000 local audiences during 2008 Christmas Day.

Not forgetting the heart of the nation, its also performs for community clubs and for charities. Over the years, it has gifted some 100 performances services to the community and charitable organizations events like the National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre, Singapore Rotary Club, National Kindness Association, Community Clubs, National events and camps and schools including memorial services for local and overseas individuals.
